In Switzerland, the 3G network is being gradually shut down. This can also affect 4G-capable Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices that do not support VoLTE calling. Affected devices will no longer be able to make voice calls after the shutdown.
Why am I affected?
Many Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices technically support VoLTE, but the option is not visible or is disabled in the settings because the carrier authorisation is missing on the device. Without VoLTE, voice calls will no longer be possible after the 3G shutdown.
Activate VoLTE – step by step
1
Check if VoLTE is already active
Settings → SIM cards & mobile networks → Select SIM card → Check the "VoLTE calls" option

Check with your carrier

Important notes
Possible limitations after activation Activation via the code disables the carrier check. In rare cases, this may cause issues, e.g. with SMS delivery. If problems occur after activation, re-enter the code to deactivate VoLTE and contact your carrier.
VoLTE cannot be activated? If your device does not support VoLTE despite following all steps (e.g. very old models or devices from non-EU markets), a device change is the only solution. Contact your carrier to check whether your device is future-proof.
