Xiaomi E-scooter electronic lock won’t unlock - what to do?

Important – Please read first
Do not delete the scooter from the Xiaomi Home App. Once removed, the device cannot be re-paired and must be unpaired by Xiaomi support for a fee. We accept no liability for consequences resulting from independently removing the device from the app.

Unable to unlock the electronic lock on your Xiaomi e-scooter? Follow these steps in order.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure Bluetooth enabled · Location/GPS enabled · Stable internet connection · Phone within 5 m of scooter · App permissions (Bluetooth, location, network) granted · Kickstand folded in · Battery sufficiently charged (min. 50%)

Unlock via the app
Open Xiaomi Home app → tap device card → tap "Unlock". On some app versions you need to swipe right (slide-to-unlock).
2
Restart Bluetooth
Bluetooth off → wait 10 sec → back on. Fully close the app. Turn scooter off and on. Reopen app → connect → unlock.
3
Check region, app & firmware version
Region: Profile → Additional settings → Region → select correct region
App update: Profile → Additional settings → Check for updates
Firmware: Device card → Firmware update → Check for updates
4
Bluetooth reset on the scooter
Press and hold the throttle fully → press the power button 5× quickly → wait for the beep. Then reconnect via app and unlock.
The exact button combination may vary by model – please consult your scooter's user manual.
5

iOS: Delete app → reinstall from App Store
Then sign in again, connect scooter and unlock.

Good to know
Kick-start: Many models only start the motor from approx. 5 km/h. Give the scooter a short push and then apply the throttle - this is not a motor lock but normal behaviour.

Bluetooth lock: The electronic lock is a convenience feature and not a replacement for a mechanical lock. For reliable security, we recommend using a physical lock as well.

QR code: Always keep your scooter's QR code safe. It is required for pairing with the app and can only be replaced for a fee if lost.

The information is based on official Xiaomi manufacturer guidelines and is provided without guarantee. The button combinations and reset procedures described may vary by model – please also consult your scooter's user manual.
